Sophomore Year
Do you remember when we entered Wilbur Cross in our sophomore year. We had our first real social engagement. "The Masked Dance", with Dolores Rescigno and Charlie Miller in the limelight. This seemed to assist us in overcoming our numerous difficulties.
Football weather was in the air. We brought the season to a termination with the spectacular Harvest Festival, which later became an annual affair. Although we gave them great opposition, we honorably accepted a defeat by one point.
It was right around this time that Connie Tiernan was chosen chairman of a vigorous clean-up program.
Do you remember the outstanding sports program we possessed with our basketball and baseball team winning glory for us? Not only the boys proved to have outstanding sports abilities, but the girls also. Phyllis Simone was the sophomore ping-pong champion; and Anne Carr and Lynn Stevens, our female swimming champions.
We were amazed to discover the various sophomores who had won numerous other honors. Marilyn Carter, Kenneth Barr and Jean Mauro had received literary awards. Joan O'Connor, Maureen Corcoran and Mary Augur received awards for their active participation in Red Cross affairs. This year, which proved to be rather interesting, was brought to a close with dreaded exams.
Junior Year
Do you remember when we reentered school in the fall with a more secure and confident outlook on future events?
This year we were honored with the presence of Robert Alda, who crowned our King and Queen at the Harvest Festival. The Harvest football game was completed with a tie score, which of course, made a great number of the students happy.
A Mistletoe Dance was also sponsored by us, under the guidance of Miss Lenahan, our class advisor. Pat Dwyer helped in making this dance a great success by selling a numerous amount of tickets.
Once again our annual minstrel, under the able direction of Mrs. Clark, was a booming success, with our fellow students in the spotlight. Johanna Malen and Barbara Olsen did a great job in vocalizing for this affair.
Election time approached with the respective managers and candidates promoting invigorating campaigns. Those victorious were: Irving Hulteen, President; Louise Malafronte, Vice-President: Anne Fiondella, Secretary; Pat Sylvestri, Treasurer; and Aldona Dauder, Prom Chairman.
The Junior Class emerged with numerous awards, displaying their able capacities. Alex DeSantis, winning both Italian and Latin awards; Jean Mauro, Latin; and Nancy Selmont captured the French award. Marilyn Flaherty and Charlotte Cummings won first and second year Spanish awards, respectively.
The outlook on all athletics again looked very promising for both boys and girls. Bettejane Ziaks proved her talents as an athlete by winning the bowling award.
The Junior Prom drew closer and closer ---finally it was here! The pastel motive carried out in the girls' gowns, emphasized by the odor of various kinds of flowers, and music by Larry Todd and his orchestra provided for a delightful evening never to be forgotten. It came and went quickly, but it will always be remembered. A few weeks later in June, we settled down and started cramming for exams to see if we had the right to remain at Wilbur Cross for another year.

Come to the reunions and share these memories with us and meet old friends. You may see some of them in the photos that we will be adding on the following pages.
